The IDOL has an interesting History.(Year 1961, not too old, there are people residing to tell you about the incident!) A laundry person was washing clothes on the bank of river Shivna. He was doing it on a stone. One night suddenly he got a dream from the Lord saying that he is washing clothes on his IDOL. The person discussed this with his society people and soon the stone was taken out just to find this chamatkari idol of Lord Pashupatinath.

As the city was small, it was decided that the idol be taken to Ujjain and a temple made there, but the bullocks of the cart used for the transportation didn’t moved. Finally, the Lord came to the person’s dream once again and said that a temple should be made there itself, And hence a temple was built on banks of the river.

Another interesting fact of the temple is that the River Shivna got blessing from the Lord that she will be bathing the lord with her waters. Although the temple built at 90 feet, each year during the rains, SHIVNA WATERS come and do the jalabhishekh (bathing with water)!!

Thousands of people visit the site to witness the river bathing Lord Pashupatinath. The occasion is also enjoyed with a great pump and show across the city and many of the nearby places.

Even if you are unable to visit the place, find pics of it and enjoy it on the great occasion.

Jai Shree Pashupatinath!

OM Namah Shivay!

Har Har Mahadeva..
